Quick facts

The Lhasa Apso is one of three breeds that originated centuries ago in the Himalayas of Tibet. This smart and confident breed was considered sacred and used as sentinels to guard temples and monasteries. The Lhasa was so well protected that it wasn't until the 1930s that they first made an appearance in the States where the merry long-haired dog gained popularity.

About lhasa apsos

The Lhasa Apso comes originally from Tibet, where it worked historically as a watch dog. Today, these small dogs are well-loved companions and also excel in competitive agility. Their bodies are longer than they are tall, and they are known for their distinctive, long, flowing hair. Lhasa Apsos are deeply devoted to their families and are good with children. Because these dogs don’t shed much, they may be a good choice for those with allergies.
