All About the Fastest Dog Breeds

Fast dogs are a fun addition to families that are active and high energy, especially for runners or joggers. If you’re thinking of getting a fast dog, ensure that you provide them with room to run and stretch their legs as they are bred to run! They’ll need access to a fenced yard or frequent visits to a large dog park (or daily leashed runs) to meet their exercise requirements.
Fast dogs need to be properly trained to respond to calls to return (especially sighthounds) as once these dogs start running, it’s hard to catch them! If they are off-leash in an unfenced area, they can easily take off chasing whatever has their attention.
Sighthounds tend to be some of the fastest breeds, but some non-hounds make the list as well. Some of our favorite fast dogs are:
